Conferences

In MOWA, we believe that networking with colleagues in our natural environment creates a win-win situation for everybody involved.  The writers, photographers and editors all get to meet and spend a weekend together.  Plus, the area that hosts the conference gets a lot of publicity!

Since we are a Michigan organization, we tend to gather in our state -- whether it be the Upper Peninsula or the Lower.  We have also traveled to Canada and Isle Royale.

How are these conferences beneficial to members?  

• We get to experience comradery in our field in a very casual style.
• These trips are heavily subsidized by the hosts, so we can experience it all at a value price.
• We often have speakers, presentations and awards to sharpen our skills and build credentials.
• We get to "get away" and experience a new part of Michigan!

Our next trip is scheduled for the Lake Gogebic area near Bergland in the U.P. the first weekend February, 2014.

Summer trips are usually the first weekend in June.  The summer 2015 location has yet to be decided.
